Complicated final Faenza race for KTM Diga Junior Racing
Due to a hand injury he suffered in the first EMX125 event at Crossodromo Monte Coralli, Florian Miot had to try to limit the damage last Tuesday. Now that this injury was almost forgotten, the talented Frenchman sprained his ankle during time practice.
With a tenth place during free practice - just over half a second from the top five - Florian showed that he had he’s mind set on a strong final performance in Italy. Halfway through the qualifying session, however, things went wrong. The KTM Diga Junior Racing rider did start in the first moto in which he made his way up from 24th to 11th place. Because he touched his painful ankle again Miot had to settle for 20th in the end, handing him one championship point.
After a bad start Florian tried to stand his ground in the final moto. However, seven laps into the race he decided to retire. Miot was circulating in 22nd. After four rounds in the championship the reigning French 125cc champion sits 16th in the championship.
Team mate Daniel Volovich set the 38th fastest time in the morning and wrapped up his Faenza week with 35th position overall (30-32). The highly competitive EMX125 series
will continue on 3 October in Mantova, Italy.
Florian Miot: "What a disappointing day. This was absolutely not how I wanted to end my week in Faenza. Especially because the feeling in my hand quite okay by now. The fact that I hit my ankle a second time after that heavy sprain in the morning was unfortunately too much.”
Daniel Volovich: "For sure the first race was better than what I had shown here before but of course we still have to work hard for the results we’re after. In the second moto I had a bad start and then I crashed early in the race. Because of that I completely lost my rhythm. We are now going to be working hard in practice to be as strong as possible in Italy and Belgium".
